10 BUSINESS TIPS EVERY ENTREPRENEUR NEEDS TO HEAR

When I first moved my business to the online space, I could have made list after list of questions I felt like I’d never have the answers to. There was so much to know!
Now that I’ve been here for several years, I’ve learned a ton. So today’s episode is all about reflecting and sharing a few of the things I soooo wish I would have known when I first kicked off my journey as an online entrepreneur.
Whether your business is brand new or you’ve been doing this awhile and just need some extra advice, these are the 10 business tips I feel like EVERY entrepreneur needs to hear.
MY TOP 10 TIPS
1. GET COMFORTABLE WITH BEING UNCOMFORTABLE.
Even now, you really don’t know just how much you don’t know. The next few years are going to be a HUGE learning process for you, and that’s wonderful!
2. SET YOUR BUSINESS UP RIGHT TO START WITH.
What do I mean by this? I mean, don’t skip steps in the beginning. Maybe you feel like your business isn’t big enough or successful enough yet to warrant a thorough setup process, but I promise you—it’s so much easier to take care of all your basic setup stuff right now so you don’t have to worry about it once your business starts thriving.
3. DON’T CREATE WHAT YOU WANT. CREATE WHAT YOUR AUDIENCE WANTS & NEEDS.
Swallowing your pride is a big part of being a business owner. There will be times when you think you have a great idea for a new offering, but your audience will be disinterested. When that happens, listen to your audience. Strive to understand what they REALLY want and need, and provide that for them.
4. THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS “THE RIGHT TIME.”
Saying you’re waiting until a better time is just a prettier way to say you’re procrastinating. There’s no such thing as the right time! Do it today, period.
5. YOU DON’T HAVE COMPETITION. RUN YOUR OWN RACE!
Yes, I know the online entrepreneurship world is pretty saturated . . . but other entrepreneurs aren’t your competition! At this stage, your only competition is yourself. Be a better entrepreneur than you were yesterday, and you’ll win the race before you know it.
6. IT TAKES TIME TO BUILD A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS. THERE ARE ZERO SHORTCUTS.
You won’t be an overnight success. Buying followers won’t make you famous. You won’t become a millionaire in your first month of business. These are just simple realities! They’re true for all of us. Growing a successful business is a huge time investment. Be sure you’re in it for the longhaul.
7. YOU GET TO BUILD THE BUSINESS YOU WANT.
Your business does NOT have to look exactly like my business, or the business of any other coach/influencer/mogul you follow online. It’s YOURS. Don’t be afraid to bend some rules and do things YOUR way.
8. DON’T BURN THROUGH YOUR MONEY.
This one is IMPORTANT. You need a long-term strategy and a sustainable budget. Prioritize what really matters in this early stage. As tempted as you may be, DON’T burn through all your money on fancy gear, a big team, or even a crazy marketing campaign just yet. Create a plan and stick to it.
9. YOU DON’T HAVE TO GO IT ALONE.
In fact, you probably CAN’T do it all alone. (If you figure out how to, you’re Wonder Woman and I wanna talk to you.) You don’t need a massive team when you’re starting off (see my point above), but hiring one or two trustworthy folks to help you find your footing can be an awesome investment.
10. KEEP TAKING ACTION.
Above all else, just keep taking action! Keep trying new things, learning new things, meeting new people, and having new experiences. Your business only gets stagnant when you do. So embrace the fear and uncertainty, and let’s do this thing!
